Istine is the esteemed estate in the heart of Tuscany that every year just gets better and better. Run by an amazing woman named Angela Fronti, Istine has one of the most refined Chianti Classicos ever. I started buying this wine in 2010, right after Angela took over her family’s estate. It was always a star, but with every year that passes and vintage that she makes the wines have evolved and matured in an astounding way. There are chiseled tannins coupled with bursting red fruit, all kind of rolled in a cloak of old school energy. Angela’s 25 hectares are nestled in Radda and Gaiole, which are specific zones for Chianti, lovely, higher quality areas for terroir within a region that oftentimes is misunderstood. I love this wine so much, it's the perfect Tuscan moment in the glass.
